Exploring Friuli Venezia Giulia: The Untouched Italy - Bosshunting by Ruth Borgobello

As part of their partnership with the 2016 Lavazza Italian Film Festival, our friends at Fiat headed back to their Italian roots earlier this month, collaborating with film director Ruth Borgobello of ‘The Space Between’ (premiering at the festival). 

The journey saw Fiat explore their Italian roots in Friuli Venezia Giulia – a largely undiscovered area in the north-east of Italy. 100km from Venice, the region boasts a richly diverse landscape that encompasses the jagged Giulian alps, a vineyard peppered countryside and the deep blue Adriatic sea.

Road Trip Northern Italy - Elle by Ruth Borgobello

Roadtrip through a little-known, history-steeped and wine-soaked region of Italy. 

We were alerted to a whispered-of region called Friuli Venezia Giulia—just 100km north of one of the world’s touristic epicentres in Venice—by the imminent arrival of a new film, The Space Between, which is the first movie ever to be born of a co-production between Australia and Italy.

It's Australian born but Italian-blooded writer/director, Ruth Borgobello, is from Udine, the capital of the region, and set her debut film in the area because she knew just how special, and unseen, the locations would be.
